If you have had enough with paying outrageously high insurance
premiums and are in the market for a new, affordable car insurance
quote, do not assume that you need to switch insurance companies to
get one. There are ways for you to get a new affordable car
insurance quote and still stay loyal to your current car insurance
company or agency.
The first thing you should do when you sit down to talk with your
current car insurance company or agent is to ask about any discounts
that you may qualify for, but of which you are not aware. Many car
insurance companies and agents offer discounts to drivers of a
certain age, teens who are doing well in school, drivers with clean
driving records, i.e., no accidents, no traffic violations, etc.
Next, determine whether or not you are paying the right deductible.
Paying a higher deductible will lower your car insurance premiums,
quite possibly saving you some money in the long run.
Then look at your optional coverage. Do you have a lot of coverage
with your car insurance policy that just does not seem as necessary
now as it did when you first signed up? If so, it is because it
probably is not necessary. Now that you have had time to get used to
your car insurance policy, you can more clearly see what you do, and
do not, actually need.
Lastly, find out if you can have several different insurance
policies from the same company. Many insurance companies sell more
than just one kind of insurance. Customers may be able to purchase a
variety of insurance policies – car, health, life, and home owner’s
insurance – from just one company. Find out from your car insurance
company or agent whether or not this is an option for you. If so,
you may be interested in moving some of your other insurance
policies over to your car insurance company.
